Helen Beaver Norville, 77, of the Green Creek community, died Sunday, March 31, at her home. She was a native of Polk County and the daughter of the late C A and Estalene Beaver. She dedicated her life caring for others. She was a graduate of the Gardner Webb School of Nursing and spent over 30 years caring for patients first as a nurse at Rutherford Hospital and later specializing in geriatric nursing with a great group of nurses and friends at long term care facilities in Rutherford County. In more recent years, she continued her tremendous care of others as she cared for her husband and others throughout her community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Herman Bruce Norville, Sr., and her parents.
She is survived by one son, Herman Bruce Norville, Jr., of Green Creek; one daughter, Dana Norville Dedmond, and her husband, Barnaby Dedmond, of Chapin, South Carolina; one sister, Patricia Beaver Gilbert, and her husband, Dean Gilbert, of Shiloh; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Hope Norville and Darby Hudson Dedmond; two grandsons, Cody Kistler Dedmond and Damien Luke Dedmond; one great grandson, Oakley Wren McDowell; two nieces, Jamie Gilbert Smith (Jeff) and Holly Gilbert Snyder (Matt); 3 great nieces, Farryn Smith, Lauryn Smith, and Kaylan Wilson; and one great nephew, Carter Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at McMahan’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Buster King officiating. Interment will follow at the Pores Ford Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideon’s International, Rutherfordton Camp, P O Box 1462, Rutherfordton, NC 28139. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory in charge of arrangements.
