Mary Elizabeth Freeman Clements, 91, of Union Mills, NC passed away peacefully on August 6, 2019 after a
beautiful full life and a period of declining health.
Elizabeth was born Sept. 17, 1927 in Rutherford County to the late Deck and Bertha Freeman. She was the beloved wife of the late Oliver Clements for 62 years.
She was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and an employee of Stonecutter Mills until her retirement.
Elizabeth was a Christian in faith, word, and deeds of love and service. As a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church, she was active in any area in which she was needed including teaching, WMU, choir, worship preparation,
outreach, visitation and prayer support.
She loved cooking, entertaining, gardening, Christmas, keeping in touch with friends, and traveling.
She and Oliver enjoyed RV camping and were charter members of the Thermal Belt Model A Club.
In addition to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, stepmother Nannie Pearl Freeman, brother Ray Freeman, and sister Margaret Norris.
Elizabeth is survived by Ronnie and Susan Clements of Belmont who she and Oliver always referred to
as "like our son and daughter", sister in laws Jane Freeman and Genell Clements, brother in law Edward Norris, and
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Camp Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Tony McCraw officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the church fellowship hall.
