Hoyle Harris Edgerton Sr.

Hoyle Harris Edgerton Sr., age 93, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

He was born to the late John Harris Edgerton and the late Estelle Weeks Edgerton on September 24, 1926. Hoyle was a native of Rutherford County and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and continued on to graduate from Catawba College. Hoyle retired after 30 plus years as a teacher and coach in the North Carolina School System.  He was a U.S. army veteran of the Korean War. In addition to his parents Hoyle was preceded in death by one son Hoyle Harris Edgerton Jr. 

He is survived by his wife, Camilla Hodge Edgerton of 67 years.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at Mount Vernon Baptist Church at 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 28, 2019 with Reverend Dr. Scott Courtney officiating. Interment will be at Mt.Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mount Vernon Baptist Church; 2676 Hudlow Rd. Forest City, NC 28043.
