Johnny Steve Champion age 68 of Forest City died Tuesday September 10, 2019 at home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was the son of Howard Champion and the late Aline Champion.
Steve was born August 27, 1951 in Rutherford County. He worked at AGI for 17 years in the paint department and many of his co-workers nicknamed him Paint Thinner. Steve was a people person and he never met a stranger. He loved Elvis music, camping, NASCAR racing, and cooking in dutch ovens. But most of all he loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He had two fur babies Babygirl and Zena. He attended Wilson Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. He loved the church and church family.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 41 years, Jackie Champion, two sons; Todd Champion of Lenior and B.J. Champion (Amber) of Forest City, one sister; Chris Hutchins and one brother; Robert Champion (Robin), three grandchildren; Daniel Champion, Mahleah Champion and Abri Champion, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at McMahan's Funeral Home Thursday September 12, 2019. The funeral service will be at 4:00 PM at Wilson Baptist Church September 13, 2019 with Reverend Billy Bostic, Reverend Pete Bridges, and Reverend Chad Sisk officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wilson Baptist Church; 3617 Whitesides Rd. Forest City, NC 28043 or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills; P.O.
