Carolyn Elizabeth Pierce, 90, of Tryon, N.C. joined our Lord Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Fair Haven of Forest City, N.C. Born in Birmingham, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Fenton and Florence Watkins. She attended Ohio Wesleyan University and married Ross Pierce May 12, 1945 in San Diego, California where he was stationed in the U.S. Navy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Ross Pierce, and by a son, Bruce Pierce. Mrs. Pierce and her husband Ross retired to the Tryon area in 1981. She had a love of golf and was a past member of Red Fox Country Club in Tryon and was also active in the Tryon Garden Club. She was of the Episcopal faith. Surviving are three sons, Ross Pierce Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Brian Pierce of Rutherfordton, N.C., and Carl Pierce of Tryon, N.C.; two daughters, Cathie (Kasha) Lossiah of Cherokee, N.C. and Denise Pierce of Columbus, N.C. and four grandchildren. No services are planned. McMahan's Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
