Horace Cordell Obituary
Horace Lee Cordell, age 89, of Rutherfordton, died Friday, May 11, 2018, at Fair Haven of Forest City.
He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late James Edgar Cordell and the late Eva Louise Walker Cordell. He was self employed as a heavy equipment mechanic and still enjoyed going to his shop or just talking about bulldozers and tractors. He will be remembered as a caring, gentle, and humble son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, father-in-law, uncle and friend. He loved to share converstaion and stories of the past, and he loved to joke and laugh. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 64 years Ruby Ellen Arrowood Cordell, three brothers; James Cordell, Ernest Cordell and Frank Cordell and one sister Callie Ledbetter Harton.
He is survived by:

Anna Cordell Hicks and husband Michael of Greenville, SC
Catherine Cordell Dalton and husband Clyde of Rutherfordton.
One Son:
Donald Wray "Bo" Cordell and wife Rebecca of Rutherfordton
Five Grandchildren:
Matthew Brian Dalton and wife Amy, Justin William Cash, Caroline Ellen Cordell, Cody Wray Cordell and Colton William Cordell
One Great-Grandson:
Tyler Matthew Dalton
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, May 14, 2018 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, May 15, 2018 with Reverend Ad Hopper officiating. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Forest City, NC.
