Joe Womack

Joe Womack of Rutherfordton, NC passed away peacefully on September 7, 2018 after a short period of declining health. He was born in Rutherfordton on January 17, 1931 to parents Carl Womack and Elizabeth Smawley Womack. Joe traveled the country and all over the world while in the US Army and Air Force making his way back to spend most of his life on Broad River in Rutherfordton. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Vivian Womack whom he loved and spoke about till his final days. Joe was also preceded in death by his brothers Larkin Barney Womack, Carl Twitty Womack and sisters Inez Ruppe, Ruth Wilson, Hazel Sims, Mary Griffith, Margaret Vickers, Glenice Womack.
Joe is survived by a great number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews who were fortunate to have a wonderful Uncle Joe who made them all feel like they were "his favorite".
The family wishes to thank the many folks in the area that were so kind to our Uncle Joe and listened to his tall tales as he made his daily rounds "knocking around".
