Obituary

Marvin E. Griffin, Sr., age 71, of Union Mills, NC, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Emmett and Stella Guffey Griffin. He was a native of Rutherford County. He loved to work with and help children at Shriners Hospitals. Marvin was a member of Union Mills Presbyterian Church. He was an active member of Masonic Lodge #460 Cliffside for 36 years and he retired from Duke Energy. He is survived by his wife: Shirley Lane Griffin One Daughter: Teresa Griffin Lother and her husband Michael One Son: Marvin Eugene Griffin Jr. and Lisa Perkins Two Grandchildren: Tiffany Lother and Seth Griffin The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday, July 25, 2014 prior to the service at Union Mills Presbyterian Church. The Funeral service will be at Union Mills Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 25, 2014 with Rev. Bart Shaw and Rev. Jimmy Koone officiating. Interment will be at Union Mills Presbyterian Cemetery with full Masonic Rites provided by the Cliffside lodge. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital; 950 West Faris Rd. Greenville, SC 29605. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the first responders, EMT's, the emergency department including the nurses, staff, and Dr. Singh; their emergency readiness and care were greatly appreciated by the family.
