ANNIE KEEVER

Britt Anne Blanton Keever, 87, of Rutherfordton, NC, succumbed to congestive heart failure and pneumonia on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at White Oak Manor of Rutherfordton. Born November 10, 1931, Annie was the widow of the late Jesse Fidell Keever, Jr. The youngest child of her parents, the late Cyrus Rolan Blanton and Lela Rebecca Scoggin Blanton, Annie was preceded in death by all of her older siblings: Roy Blanton, Festus Blanton, Reid Blanton, Earl Blanton, and Grace Blanton Roddy. Numerous nieces and nephews survive her including Vernell Blanton Keever, who was as close as a sister. Heartbroken by the loss of her mother is Annie's daughter and only child, Cynthia Keever Goforth, of Spartanburg, SC, whose husband, John Burgess Goforth, was loved and treated by Annie as if he had been her own son. However, the most special place in Granny's heart was reserved for her two grandsons. This cannot be overstated. Dr. Paul Michael Goforth, his wife, Anne Porcher, and great-grandson, John Sullivan, live in Speichersdorf, Germany. Davis Reid Goforth, his wife, Heather, and great-grand-daughter, Carolyn, live in Charleston, SC. A memorial service will be held this Sunday, September 1, 2019, at 3:00 at Gray's Creek Baptist Church in Rutherfordton, NC where Annie was a lifelong member. Rev. John Godfrey and Rev. Bryan Ezell will officiate. An informal opportunity for all family and friends to visit with each other while enjoying light refreshments will immediately follow the service in the church Family Life Center.
