Barbara Dale Young (Helgreen), 64 years young, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones March 2, 2021.

Dale was a beloved wife, sister, granny, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. Dale was a woman of her word, and everyone who encountered her could never say anything negative about her.

Dale earned her degree in chemistry at NC State University. She worked many years as a cosmetic chemist. Dale met and married the love of her life, Bob Young who was also a chemist. Dale and Bob both retired from chemistry and dedicated their lives to each other, and farming.

Dale was preceded in death by her parents, Jim & Barbara Helgreen, and her identical twin Gale Champie.

She is survived by her incredibly supportive and loving husband of 31 years, Bob Young, brother, Jay Helgreen (Karen), sister, Jan Allison (Ricky), step sons, Aaron (April), and Bryan (Cheryl). Grandchildren, Dylan, Madelyn, Holden, Melana, Addison, and Anson. She is also survived by nieces, Mandy Dunham (Jamie), Morgan Helgreen, nephews, Jason Allison, and Max Helgreen. Many great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and friends. She is only gone from this earth, but never from our hearts and minds. Her spirit lives on in all of us.
