Betty Briggs Tipton, age 87, of Rutherfordton, NC, went to be with the Lord Monday, February 12, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

A native of Rutherford County, Betty was the daughter of the late McKinley Briggs and Yvonne Austin Briggs. Betty was the widow of the late Earl Dean Tipton who died in 1999. Betty was the past co-owner, with her husband Earl, of Surfside Fishing Pier, Inc. in Surfside Beach, SC. She was also the co-owner with him of Tipton Brothers Nursing Homes, Inc. in Charlotte, NC, the Tipton Family Care Facilities in Rutherfordton, NC, and co-owner of Tipton Care Facilities (Twin Lanes) in Tryon, NC. She and her family attended First Baptist Church in Tryon, NC and Evangel Fellowship/Father's Vineyard in Spindale, NC. She was very special to so many family members and friends, who will miss her greatly.

Surviving Betty are her four daughters, Tammy Tipton Barnes (Dennis), of Rutherfordton, NC, Lori Tipton (Tracy), of Tryon, NC, Penny Tipton Jenkins (Robbie), of Rutherfordton, NC, and Gina Tipton, of Rutherfordton, NC, one brother, Joseph Briggs (Pam), of Tallahassee, FL, six grandchildren, Jordan Tipton Barnes, Judson Barnes, Briggs Tipton Manness, Samuel Jenkins (Emily), Victoria Jenkins, and Joshua Jenkins (Shelby), four great-grandchildren, Arianna Crews, Ezekiel Jenkins, Cooper Jenkins, and Acre Jenkins.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM, Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Father's Vineyard Church in Spindale, NC. The funeral service will be at Father's Vineyard at 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 15, 2024, with Pastor Terry Howell and Pastor Roger Gosnell. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
