He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Clyde Jessie Self and the late Nancy Alice Canipe Self. He was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church in Union Mills and was a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of the Rutherfordton Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and owner of Bill Self Auto Sales in Spindale. He was an avid Redskins fan but above all he was a devoted husband, daddy, grandpa, brother and a friend to many. He is survived by his wife: Teresa Hoyle Self. Three Daughters: Holly Self Joy Self Blanton and husband J.R. Savannah Self Two Sisters: Sue Robbins Brenda Harrill and husband Ronnie Four Grandchildren: Trinity Blanton, Kamryn Blanton, Ava Blanton and Emma Self-Byrd The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Cane Creek Baptist Church in Union Mills at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 3, 2017 with Pastor J.R. Blanton officiating. Interment will be at Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard, also Masonic Rites given by his lodge.
