Charles Cecil Bare, age 89, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

A native of Obids Community, in Ashe County in NC, Charles was the son of the late Weldon and Hazel Bare. He was a US Army veteran. Charles was a long time member at Mountain View Baptist Church in Rutherfordton, NC. He was the owner and president of Apple Tuck & Associates for many years until his retirement. Charles loved working on his farm and visits to his cabin in the mountains. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Betty Sue Bare, his daughter, Demedia Bare, and three siblings, Marie Bare, Dean Bare, and Raymond Bare.

Charles is survived by his son, David Bare and his wife Christy, of Morganton, NC, one sister, Anna Ray Bare Miller of Obids, NC, two grandchildren, Christian Bare of Gainesville FL, and Emily Thompson and her husband Tyree of Spokane, WA, and one great-grand son, Christopher Thompson.

The graveside service will be at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 28, 2024 with Reverend Eric Reedy officiating. Interment will follow. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043, or Mountain View Baptist Church, 430 US 221 Hwy S, Rutherfordton, NC 28139, or Obids Baptist Church in Obids, NC. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
