Charles Martin, age 70, of Rutherfordton, NC, went Home Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

Charles was a native of Rutherford County, and the son of the late Brownlow and Mary Louise Martin. Charles was a loving husband, an amazing father and a devoted friend. He never met a stranger and spent his life helping anyone in need that he could. He was surrounded in life, and as he left this world for his Heavenly home, by those he loved and who loved him. The stories of his selflessness will forever be told.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy Koone Martin, one daughter Jennifer Martin Mason of Rutherfordton, one son, Jason Martin and his wife Trina of Tampa, FL, one brother, Jimmy Martin and his wife Brenda of Spindale, brother-in-law, Robbie Koone  and his wife Cynthia of Union Mills, eight grandchildren, Paxton, Eden, Kimber, Lochlan, Elle, Charlie, Harper, and Knox, and two granddogs, Apollo and Zeus.

The family will receive friends at McMahan's Funeral Home 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM Tuesday March 21, 2023. The funeral service will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Rutherfordton, at 2:00 PM Wednesday March 22, 2023 with Reverend Randy Darling officiating. Charles will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church ; 130 Pleasant Grove Road; Rutherfordton, NC 28139.  McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
