Dennis R. McKinney, age 71, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby, NC.

A native of Rutherford County, Dennis was the son of the late Roy McKinney and the late Geraldine McKinney. In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his brother, Stan McKinney. Dennis was a huge NASCAR fan, he went to the races for 43 years in Bristol, TN. He was the meat cutter at Winn-Dixie, moved to fast-food, and then retired from Ethan and Allen furniture company.

Dennis is survived by his son, Jerry F. McKinney and his wife Jennifer, his brother, Ron McKinney and his wife Gina, and his grandson, Seth L. McKinney.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at McMahan's Funeral Home. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
