Donald Barner, age 81, of Spindale, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Fair Haven of Forest City.

He was the son of the late Curt and Hester Barner and he was a native of Rutherford County. Donald was a member of Gray's Creek Baptist Church. He loved to go fishing and he also liked racing. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by, one grandson, Terry Cobb, brother James Barner, one half-sister, Elsie Wines, five half-brothers, Grady Smith, Clarence Smith, JD Smith, and EJ Smith.

Donald was a devoted husband to his wife, Mozelle Barner for 60 years. He was a loving father to his children who are left to cherish his memory, three daughters, Tonda Ervin - Greene (Allen) of Forest City, Amy Williams (Ronald) of Chesnee, and Leisa Barner, of Ellenboro, and one son, Donnie Barner, of Rutherfordton, He is also survived by five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at Grays Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 6, 2021 with Reverend Bryan Ezell officiating. Masks and social distancing will be required to attend the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills; P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
