Doris Bearden Scoggins, age 90, of Augusta, GA, formerly of Rutherfordton, NC passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Harrington Park Health & Rehab in Augusta, GA. A native of Augusta, GA, Doris was the daughter of the late Walter and Ira Ammons Bearden. While living in Rutherfordton, NC Doris was a member at Second Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. Doris was also a member at Martinez Baptist Church in Georgia while she lived there. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Earl D. Scoggins, her daughter, Deborah Pearson, her sister, Anne Maile, and her brother, Thomas Bearden.

Doris is survived by her son, Dennis L. Simmons and his wife Janet, of Evans, GA, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be at Southern Baptist Church Cemetery at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 16, 2025, with Reverend Dr. Keith Stephenson officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
