Doris Reid Sims, age 83, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Hospice House of Rutherford County. Doris was a native of Rutherford County. Born August 30, 1928. She was the daughter of the late John Walter Reid and the late Maude Carswell Reid. She was married March 18, 1944 to the late Howard Daniel Sims. They were married for 65 years. Doris was of the Baptist faith. She loved gardening, canning, cooking, camping, flowers and gospel music. She is survived by Three Daughters: Debbie Lattimore and husband Larry of Rutherfordton, NC Barbara Tetrick and husband Dr. Ed Tetrick of Bostic, NC Shirley Morgan and husband Johnny of Bostic, NC Two Sons: Ronnie Sims and wife Patty of Rutherfordton, NC Ricky Sims and wife Tammy of Forest City, NC 11 Grand Children: Donna Hamrick, Kim Mull, Danny Sims, Misty Sims, Danielle Bradley, Heather Clark, Scott Guffey, Sheila Smith, Jessica Sims, Allison Sims, Brian Scoggins. 20 Great-Grand Children The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Tuesday, prior to the service in the church family life center. Funeral service will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 10, 2012 with Rev. William Swink officiating. The body will lie-in-state in sanctuary.
