Dorothy "Dot" Buchanan, age 94, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Dora Owens, and she was a native of Spartanburg County, SC. Dot was a member of Southern Baptist Church. She attended Spartanburg High School and she also went to Queen's College. Dot and her husband started a rug company and worked there until retirement. She loved her family, cooking, playing dominos, and tending to her flower garden. She will be remembered for her love of life, uncanny wit, and sense of humor. In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Earl "Dib" Buchanan, two children, Lynn, and Rusty Buchanan, and ten siblings.

She is survived by, two daughters, Joan Koone, and Kay Hammond (Buddy), two sons, Joey Buchanan, and Lee Buchanan (Johna), eight grandchildren, Kristy Rogers (Chris), Cary Lail (Jacqueline), Brian Lail (Jenny), Michael Buchanan (Sara), Allison Wilson, (Mark), Chelsea Miller (Andrew), Matt Buchanan, and Katy Buchanan (Sean), thirteen great-grandchildren, Colin, Evan and Maddie Rogers, Nicholas, Kennedy, Cameron, Brookelyn, and Noah Lail, Addy, Alice, and Cadence Buchanan, and Owen, and Hayden Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Southern Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at Southern Baptist Church at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, May 4, 2022, with Reverend Peter Surran officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherfordton City Cemetery.
