Dr. Willis Archer, age 85, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Monday, April 20, 2026, at Holly Springs Senior Citizens Home. Willis was the son of the late Lewis & Ethel Gibbs Archer and grew up in Salisbury, NC. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Lethia Gibbs and Vallie Bailey (Gene). Willis was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton, where he loved singing in the choir, served as a church deacon, and held many other church positions over the years. Dr. Archer spent 40 years practicing pediatrics in Rutherford County.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Brenda Snider Archer.

Two sons: Jeff Archer (Beth), and Philip Archer (Maggie)

One sister: Kay Bonniwell (Hilton)

Four grandchildren: Faith Archer, Luke Archer, Debbie Archer, and Rebekah Archer; as well as several nieces and nephews, and his long-term business partner at Rutherford Pediatrics, Dr. Charles Marston.

The memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with Reverend Aimee Hobbs and Reverend Beth Heffner officiating. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 246 North Main Street, Rutherfordton, NC 28139. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
