James Edwin "Eddie" Smith, age 68, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Friday, February 28, 2020, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.

He was the son of the late James Ray Smith and the late Mildred Head Smith and was a native of Rutherford County. Eddie was a member at Second Baptist Church of Rutherfordton and a graduate of R.S. Central class of 1969. He was a lover of classic cars and he was a fan of NASCAR. He also loved his dog named T.W..

He is survived by his wife: Alice Smith. One Son: Dave Smith and his wife Ruth

One Brother: Phil Smith and his wife Chris

Two Grandchildren Jonathan and Thomas Smith and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Monday, March 2, 2020 at Second Baptist Church of Rutherfordton. The funeral service will be at Second Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 2nd, 2020 with Reverend Dr. Keith Stephenson and Reverend Brandon Wood officiating.  Interment will be at Rutherfordton City Cemetery immediately following the service.
