Elizabeth Ann Robertson, 77, of Rutherfordton NC passed peacefully away surrounded by her family on September 23, 2019. Ann was born May 1, 1942 in Virginia Beach, Virginia to Roy Albert and Elizabeth Baynard Robertson. She was a graduate of Cool Springs High School and Western Carolina University. Ann was active in local and State politics through the Democratic Party and held numerous offices, worked for Cato in Rutherfordton, was a member and officer in the Rutherford County Woman's Club, Theta Mu Sorority and was the co-founder of Rutherford County Junior Miss, Miss Rutherford County and Miss Cleveland County pageants. She also worked at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery, Sunset Memorial Park and retired from the State of North Carolina. Ann was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Rutherfordton. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, meeting new people, politics, dancing, the beach and spending time with friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Keith Baynard Robertson. She is survived by her daughter, Anna (David) Ellan of Rutherfordton, one granddaughter, Whittney Greene (Greg) Hannah of Rutherfordton; one grandson, Rhett Austin (Tiffany) Greene of Greer SC; eight great grandchildren, Kinleigh, Emoriee and Maddix Hunt, Layekin Hannah, Keagan, Kayden, Kyelyn and Kohynn Greene. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 P.M. at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Rutherfordton, NC Tuesday, October 1, 2019 with visitation prior to the service from 5:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. in the Parish House. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of Cleveland County and Saint Francis Episcopal Church. McMahan's Funeral Home & Cremation Services in charge of arrangements.
