Gisela Haftl McClain, age 85, of Rutherfordton, died Friday, December 9, 2022, at Ridge Rest Assisted Living Center in Columbus, NC.

She was the daughter of the late Franz Haftl and Gisela Mondschein Haftl. Gisela was born in Raabfidisch, Hungary. She was a member of Saint Frances Episcopal Church. She retired from Tanner companies.  In addition to her parents, Gisela was preceded in death by her husband, Bill McClain who died November 23, 2022; they were married 64 years, and one infant sister, Erica Haftl.

Survivors include, one daughter, Anita M Rice, and her husband Ray, one son, Johnny McClain, and his wife Michelle, one brother, Franz Haftl, one sister, Berta Haftl Schadl, one sister-in-law, Linda Jay Hodge, special caregiver, Susie Byers, and four grandsons, Brandon Rice, Cory Rice, Drew McClain, and JT McClain.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Saint Francis Episcopal Church; 395 North Main St. Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
