Hazel McEntire Guffey, 97, of Lake City, Florida, died June 25, 2025, with her daughters by her side.
Hazel was the daughter and last remaining child of the late Fred A. and Margaret "Maggie" Breeden McEntire, of Shingle Hollow, North Carolina, and the widow of Baxter Weldon Guffey, of Lake City, Florida. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth Atchley, Elzie McEntire, Virgil McEntire, Ruby Crain, Max McEntire, Guynell Yeatts, Fern Price, Billy McEntire, Myrtle McEntire, and Noreen McEntire.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly Guffey of Lake City, Florida, and Bonnie (Michael) Giusti of Wellborn, Florida; two beloved granddaughters, Amelia Giusti of Wellborn, Florida, and Olivia Giusti, of Tallahassee, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Hazel had a full and accomplished life, working as a VA nurse, and pursuing her hobbies of cooking, gardening, and quilting. She was active in her church and was always ready to give a helping hand to those she loved. She was much beloved by her extended family and had a friend at every store or business she frequented.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday July 1, 2025 at McMahan's Funeal Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jack Crain officiating. The interment will be private at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements will be handled by McMahan's Funeral Home in Rutherfordton, North Carolina.
