Helen Rogers, age 82, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at her home.

Helen was a native of Belmont, Michigan and daughter of the late Anton and Sarah Versteeg.  She was the widow of the late Dr. Hobart Rogers.  She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Rutherfordton.  She sang in the choir, was involved with the Soul Food team and also delivered Meals on Wheels.  Helen went on countless mission trips all over the world to spread the word of Jesus Christ.  She was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, and Women Roofers of Rutherford Housing Partnership.  Helen loved the Rutherford Hospital Auxiliary and served for many years as the gift shop manager.

She is survived by:

Two Daughters: Susan Brendemuhl and her husband Paul. Carole Archer and her husband Christopher.

Two Sons: David Rogers and his wife Misty. John Mark Rogers and his wife Sandy.

Three Brothers: Harvey Versteeg George Versteeg Charlie Versteeg

The family will  receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2019 at McMahan's Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 15, 2019 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. In - Yong Lee officiating.  Interment will be at Kistler's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.  In lieu of  flowers memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity; P.O.
