Hillard Steven Keever, age 77, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center due to complications resulting from pneumonia.

He was the son of the late Jesse Keever and Myrtle Smith Keever and a native of Rutherford County.  Steve was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Keever and his siblings, Jesse Keever, Jr., Bill Keever, Tom Keever, Bobby Keever, Gene Keever,  Aaron "Tut" Keever, Grover Keever, Eileen Guillespie, Lawrence Keever, and Roger Keever.

Steve was a proud uncle to his many nieces and nephews who meant the world to him. He loved nothing more than spending time with them and building wonderful memories.

He was a member of Gray's Creek Baptist Church and retired from Michelin with 24 years of service.  Steve was an avid coon hunter with his award-winning championship coon dogs. He had a passion for muscle cars and liked drag racing.  He was in the National Guard for 8 years.

Steve is survived by his wife, Donna Radford Keever, one daughter, Lisa Keever Cobb (Eric) of Surfside Beach, SC, one son, Matt Keever of Rutherfordton, one sister, Vivian Pierce (Jackie) of Wilson, NC, two brothers, George Keever (Judy) , Claude Keever (Geneva) both of Rutherfordton, four grandchildren,  Helen Cobb Holtsclaw (Justin), Christopher Cobb, Summer Keever, Joshaua Holland, four great-grandchildren,  Mattee, Mason, Acadin and Riley, honorary son and his children and grandchildren,  Ricky Keever (Febie) of Rutherfordton, Aaron Keever (Cindy) and Cheyenne,  Adam Keever (Chandler).

The funeral service will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Gray's Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Bryan Ezell and Reverend Jerry Ruppe officiating.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment will follow in the Gray's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
