Hoyle  Edwards, age 90, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Monday, April 29, 2024, at his home,

A native of Rutherford County Hoyle was the son of the late Jack and Blanche Edwards. After many years of teaching in Maryland Hoyle retired and moved to North Carolina. He then taught for many years at the Fruitland Baptist Bible College in Hendersonville, NC. Hoyle was an U.S. Air Force Veteran as well. In addition to his parents, Hoyle was preceded in death by his wife, Dessa Spencer Edwards, and by four siblings.

Hoyle is survived by two daughters, Sharon Lorber and husband George, Diana Greathouse and husband Stan, son, David Lester and wife Charlene, sister, Beatrice Hardin, numerous nieces and nephews, and one special niece, Darla Ashe.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Oak Springs Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at Oak Springs Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 2, 2024 with Reverend Alan Hall and Chaplain Jill Johnson. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Baptist Cemetery. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
