Hoyte Stott, age 87, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away at his home on Monday, August 3, 2026.

A native of Polk County, NC, Hoyte was the son of the late Homer Stott and Frances Barnett Stott. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jean Sonnack; his son, Jeff Stott; and his grandson, Adam Stott.

Hoyte is survived by his son, Jon Stott (Nanci); five grandchildren, Christina McSwain (Emmanuel), Ashley Stott, Anthony Stott, Caitie Porter (Casey), and Emma Stott; and ten great-grandchildren.

The family will gather to receive friends at McMahan's Funeral Home from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2026. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
