Irene "Maw-maw" Flynn Boone, age 79, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

She was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Maggie Flynn. Irene was a native of Rutherford County and she attended Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church. She loved to work in her yard and cook. Irene loved her children, grandchildren and her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 11 siblings.

Irene is survived by:

One daughter, Jane Hodnett, one son, David Hill, one sister,  Wanda Greene, one brother, Reverend Paul Flynn, four grandchildren, Billy Tessnair (Jessica), Crystal Hill, Amanda Hodnett, and Elizabeth Roberts (JR), and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Monday, March 22, 2021 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM, Monday, March 22, 2021 with Reverend Paul Flynn officiating.
