J. P. Goforth, age 82, of Forest City, NC, died Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. He was the son of the late Guy Goforth and the late Geneva Spake Goforth and a native of Rutherford County. J. P. was a U S Army veteran of the Vietnam War and served for 20 years. He was a member of Centennial United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by one brother Ray Goforth. He is survived by his wife: Lois Goforth. One Step-Son: Scott Goforth and Angie Atkins Four Brothers: Hicks Goforth, Gastonia, NC Don Goforth, Forest City, NC Vaughn Goforth, Rutherfordton, NC Wayne Goforth, Forest City, NC Two Step- Grandchildren The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 with Reverend Jack Bridges officiating.
