James "Jim" Greene, 81 of the Green Creek Community died on Saturday March 31, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital in Columbus. He was a native of Polk County and the son of the late Edgar and Della Greene. Jim was a retired welder, founding pastor and member of the New Freedom Baptist Church in Green Creek, a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He loved to fish, loved his grandchildren and was a friend and spiritual mentor to many people in the community. He is survived by his wife Yvonne Harris Greene Two Daughters Terry Greene of Atlanta GA Kim Greene of Decatur GA Three Grandchildren Connor Greene, Katie Farmer and Keegan Greene all of Decatur GA Two Brothers Bob Greene and Wayne Greene both of Green Creek Three Sisters Beatrice "Peat" Randolph and Ruth Reid both of Green Creek and Inez Womack of Forest City A # of Nieces and Nephews also survive The family will receive friends from 3:45 PM to 5:15 PM on Tuesday April 3, 2012 at the New Freedom Baptist Church in Green Creek. The funeral service will follow in the church at 5:30 PM with the Rev. Bud Marlor and Rev. Trent Watson officiating. Burial with military honors by the Rutherford County Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery. McMahan's Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements
