James Arthur Haynes, age 70, of Shingle Hollow, NC, went to be with the Lord Monday, February 20, 2023, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

A native of Rutherford County, James was a lifelong member of Piney Knob Baptist Church. He worked for Robbins Oil Company for 25 years, and before that, in his younger years, he did autobody repair work. James was a giving man, always helping the community and always available to lend a helping hand when needed. He owned and operated the Green Hill Store since 1995. James loved his family unconditionally, he adored his grandkids especially, and loved spending time with them. He also loved his church and his church family. James will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Adam Haynes, nephew, Brandon Taylor, and sister Anita Haynes Taylor.

James is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Debbie Pritchard Haynes, two sons, John Arthur Haynes (April), Scott James Haynes (Stephanie), his mother, Alma Hardin Haynes, and five grandchildren, Carmen Jones Crain, Paisley Michelle Haynes, Karringtyn Marie Haynes, Logan Asher Haynes, and Evie Aniston Haynes.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM, Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Piney Knob Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at Piney Knob Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 26, 2023 with Reverend Casey Stockton officiating. James will lie-in-state for 30 minutes prior to the service.
