James R. Jolley, age 68, of Green Creek, NC, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020.

He was the son of the late Tim and Marie Jolley and he was a native of Spartanburg County. James was a lifetime member of the Green Creek Fire and Rescue Department since December 12, 1983. He was currently serving as the Deputy Chief of his department. James received several awards over the years including: Fireman of the Year Award in 1986 and 1994, and the Officer of the Year Award in 2012 and 2015. James was also a volunteer firefighter for Cooley Springs Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He was retired from Duke Energy Cliffside Steam Plant where he worked for over 40 years. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by, one brother, John Wayne Jolley, and one brother-in-law, John Dean McDade.

James will lie-in-state Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McMahan's Funeral Home for anyone who would like to sign register and pay their respects. The graveside service will be at Sandy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 PM, Friday, December 11, 2020 with Reverend James Cody Morris officiating and the Firefighter honors provided by Green Creek Fire and Rescue. Interment will be at Sandy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Green Creek Fire and Rescue; 8645 Hwy 9 South, Columbus, NC 28722. McMahan's Funeral Home & Cremation Services in charge of arrangements.
