James McSwain, age 80, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

He was the son of the late Guy McSwain and the late Dura Ellen McSwain.

James was a native of Cleveland County. He attended Cherry Mountain Baptist Church. James loved to work out in his yard. In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife: Rosanna Thomas McSwain.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The graveside service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Gouges Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Spruce Pine, NC with Reverend Tommy Thomas and Reverend Danny Black officiating.
