Jean Gilbert, age 78, of Rutherfordton, NC, went Home to be with the Lord Monday, July 7, 2025, at Hilltop Health & Rehabilitation surrounded by her family.

A native of Rutherford County, Jean was the daughter of the late Lee Wilkie and Lavonna Cole Wilkie Radford. Jean was a lifetime member at Holly Springs Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jean's family and friends will miss her dearly. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Wilkie, and her brother, Terry Wilkie.

Jean is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jimmy D. Gilbert, her daughter, Tammy Gilbert Ross, her son, Danny Shytles, her special sister-in-law, Janet Reid, six grandchildren, Harlee Black, Avery Monteith, Onna-Leah Perez, Zachary Barcliff, Evan Shytles, and Dorothy Shytles, and four great-grandchildren, Snow Black, Elias Black, Addy Monteith, and Scarlett Monteith.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Friday, July 11, 2025, at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM, Friday, July 11, 2025, with Reverend Kevin Bradley officiating. Interment will be private at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
