Reverend Jerry E. Campbell, age 69, of Rutherfordton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Edward Lee Campbell and the late Annie Lee Campbell. He was a member of Piney Knob Baptist Church where he had served as pastor in the past. He had also served as pastor at Cross Memorial Baptist Church in Morganton, NC and at Montford Cove Missionary Baptist Church. In the last few years Jerry had served as assistant choir director and Sunday school teacher at Piney Knob Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son in law Jamey Arrowood. He is survived by his loving wife of forty five years; Gladys Greene Campbell . Two Daughters: Robin Campbell Arrowood Erin Campbell McSwain and her husband Heath. One Sister: Barbara Conner and her husband James Four Brothers: Bobby Campbell and his wife Linda Sue, Donald Campbell, Ronnie Campbell and his wife Marilyn, Buddy Campbell and his wife Barbara Four Grandchildren: Chase McSwain, Peyton Arrowood, Jesse Arrowood and Turner McSwain The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Piney Knob Baptist Church at 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 28, 2018 with Reverend Michael Brown, Reverend Dr. Keith Stephenson and Reverend George Whitmire officiating. Interment will be at Piney Knob Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service in the sanctuary.
