Jerry D.  Farmer, age 94, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Grover Guy Farmer and the late Blanche Cone Farmer and a native of Nash County.  He was preceded in death by his wife Jackie Cockrell Farmer, an infant son, and a brother, Guy Farmer.  Jerry was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and served in the U S Navy attaining the rank of lieutenant.  Jerry began his business career with Burlington Industries in Burlington, NC  and then moved to the J C Cowan plant in Forest City as Production Planning Manager where he retired.  He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served many roles including being elected as deacon numerous times.

He is survived by his two daughters:

Kay Harrill and Sue Bruce (Bill)

Five Grandchildren:  Tyler Harrill (Meagan), Clay Harrill, Evan Harrill, Katherine Bruce and Maggie Bruce and

four Great-Grandchildren.

The memorial service will be at First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 9, 2025 with Reverend Aimee Hobbs officiating.  The visitation will follow in the church sanctuary.
