Obituary

Jim Goode, 78, of Ruth died Friday, January 18, 2013, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. He was a native of Rutherford County and was the son of the late J.E. Goode and Lillie Walker Goode. Jim was a retired school teacher from the science department from R-S Central High School. He was involved in traveling the east coast teaching teachers how to teach physics. Jim served the town of Ruth as mayor and as a commissioner. He was a board member of the Broad River Water Authority and was the chairman of the building committee on the new R-S Central High School. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church serving as a deacon and Sunday School Director. Jim was a model train enthusiast and enjoyed photography and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was the widower of Billie Rose Goode and was preceded in death by brothers Franklin Tobe Goode, Henry Goode and Elbert Bud Goode Jr. He is survived by One Daughter: Amiee Goode-Hanaway and husband Bart of Greenville, SC Two Sons: Dr. Greg Goode of Rutherfordton Nick Goode of the home Grandson Preston Bailey Goode of Rutherfordton One Sister: Sally "Louise" Queen of Rutherfordton The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday January 22, 2013 at Southern Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. The funeral service will be at Southern Baptist Church at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 with Rev. John Perry, Rev. Jerry Ruppe, Rev. Jim Cashwell and Dr. James Byrd officiating. Entombment will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Southern Baptist Church 140 Church Street Rutherfordton NC 28139.
