Joe Simpson, age 69, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023, at his home.

A native of Rutherford County, Joe was the son of the late Hugh and Lucille Simpson. Joe was a member of Southern Baptist Church, and he was the past Master at Western Star Masonic Lodge #91. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Rutherfordton fire department for 40 years. Joe was an auctioneer with his family business, Simpson Auction and Real estate. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his two brothers, Mike Simpson, and Bill Simpson.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Reba Jolley Simpson, one son, Josh Simpson, and his wife Ginny, one grandson, Wyatt Hugh Simpson, and one special cousin (like a sister to Joe), Jane "Nanny" Simpson.

The memorial service will be at Round Hill Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, with Reverend Peter Surran officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Union Mills, NC, with Masonic Rites by Western Star Masonic Lodge #91. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
