Joe Vickers, age 92, of Union Mills, NC, died Monday, September 16, 2019, at Henderson Care Center in Forest City, NC.

He was the son of the late Crawford Vickers and the late Nora Rumfelt Vickers and a native of Rutherford County. Joe was the widower of the late Lucy Johnson Vickers. He was a member of Oaks Springs Baptist Church where he was in charge of the cemetery and was a Deacon for many years.

He is survived by:

One Daughter: Joann Owens and her husband Bobby Owens

Two Sisters: Lillie Bumgradner Rosa Adair and her husband Walter Adair

One Brother: Paul Vickers and his wife Betty Jo

One Grandchild Jonathan Owens

Two Great-Grandchildren Hunter and Peyton Owens

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Oak Springs Baptist Church.  The funeral service will be at Oak Springs Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 19, 2019 with Reverend Alvin Allen officiating.
