John Shaver

John Ernest Shaver, age 80, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

John was born December 11, 1945, and was a native of Ohio. He was the son of the late Joe Shaver and the late Ruthalee Shaver. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Shaver, and his sister, Lynn Ternent.

John was a firm believer in doing everything yourself and always came up with a solution even if it wasn't easy. He saw the best in everyone and had the most vibrant personality. Family was first for him, including his dogs Toby and TJ, and cared deeply for those around him under any circumstances. John concluded his final days with the same gentle yet contagious smile he always wore.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Melody Lovelace (Benny), five grandchildren, Cory, Caitlin, Alexis, Clara, and Brody, and two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Christian.

In accordance with John's wishes there will be no formal service for him. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of cremation arrangements.
