Julie Carpenter Hicks, age 98, of Russellville, KY, formerly of Rutherfordton died Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Creekwood Place Nursing & Rehab Center in Russellville, KY. Julie was a native of Henderson County. She was the daughter of the late Harvey Carpenter and the late Irma Carpenter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband C.C. Hicks a granddaughter Janna Cowan; sisters Margaret Martin, Irma Jackson and Dale Ward; brother Harvey Carpenter. Julie was a member of First Baptist Church of Russellville, KY and formerly attended First Baptist Church Rutherfordton. She attended Mitchell College in Statesville. She was a member of the D.A.R. for more than 50 years. Julie was also a member of National Society of Colonial Dames and the Daughters of the American Colonists, though not recently. Dean Baughn officiating. Interment will be at Rutherfordton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church.
