Landy N. Walker of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Rutherfordton, in 1948 to Worth and Estelle Walker of Gilkey, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister Janet Walker Grissom (Bud) of Rutherfordton, two daughters, Sharon Marshall (Rodney), and Terri West (Reggie) both of Forest City, along with four granddaughters Vanna Reeves (Jarrod), Carson Marshall, Makaili Wood (Caleb), and Gretta Earnhardt (Austin) and one great granddaughter, Josie. His love for them was shown in countless ways-big and small-and his presence will forever be felt in their lives.

Landy was a man of simple joys and steadfast dedication. He served in Vietnam in the US Marines. Following, he had a long career of over thirty years with BellSouth as a digital technician and had retired nearly 20 years prior to his death. Landy had become an avid connoisseur of Shake Shop where he spent most of his time talking to friends. He loved talking about cars, motorcycles, and anything military. Landy will be remembered for his loyalty, his humor, and the way he lived life, in a steady, dependable rhythm.

A service to honor his life will be Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 2:30-4 PM at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel and the service will start at 4 PM with Caleb Wood officiating.  The burial will be at Western North Carolina Military Cemetery on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 2 PM.
