Laura Thomas Lloyd, age 78, of Union Mills, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

She was the daughter of the late Robert and Ada Morris Thomas, and she was a native of Mecklenburg County, VA. Laura was a talented seamstress and worked many jobs over the years. She was a den mother at Alexander Schools Incorporated in Union Mills, to 15 foster boys. Laura was a loving mother, sister, and companion, and she will be missed by many. In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Grant Lloyd, and one brother, Melvin Thomas.

Laura is survived by her partner in life, Warren Conner, one son, Grant Lloyd, II and his wife Tracey Lloyd, and two sisters, JoAnne Loper, and Sandra Hutchins.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Monday, June 14, 2021, at McMahan's Funeral Home.  There will be a private graveside service in memory of Laura. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Shriners Hospitals for Children; 2900 Rocky Point Drive Tampa, FL 33607.
