Laverne Davis Justice—May 8, 1935 – November 28, 2021

Mrs. Laverne Davis Justice of Rutherfordton died peacefully at the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, surrounded by her family on November 28, 2021. She was born on May 8, 1935 in Collettsville, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late John Roby and Violet May Davis. She was a graduate of Collettsville High School where she loved playing on the girls basketball team. Upon graduating from school, she worked in many retail industry jobs including apparel and specialty gifts. But her favorite profession of all was being a mom to her three kids, and Nena to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also a Girl Scout leader in her local community as her children grew up. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Rutherfordton, North Carolina.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Richard D. Justice, and three siblings, Howard Davis, Glen Davis, and Geneva Medlin. She is survived by her brother, Hayden Davis (Linda), her children Donna J. Stephenson (Mike), Jack D. Justice (Deborah), Dee Dee Justice, her 9 grandchildren Bethany Sorrell (Scott), Zachary Cox, Stafford Cox, Davis Stephenson, Zeke Stephenson (Anna Kate), Savannah Davis, Lauren Davis, Jenna Davis and 4 great grandchildren Alaia and Fletcher Cox, Everleigh Sorrell, and Beckham Davis. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements will be on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Rutherfordton, North Carolina. The service will begin at 3pm with visitation following the service. A private family burial will take place at a later time. The Reverend Tim Marsh, and Reverend Zeke Stephenson will preside over the service. Due to the ongoing pandemic, masks will be required at the service.
