Lewis Hamrick, age 90, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Accordius Health at Rutherford.

He was the son of the late Rush and Pearl Farr Hamrick and a native of Houston County, GA. Lewis was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton. He graduated from Gardner Webb University as well as Limestone College, and Lewis was a US Air Force veteran of the Koren war. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #91 in Rutherfordton, and he was also a member of the Asheville York and Scottish Rite Bodies. Lewis retired as a claim manager from Aetna Life and Casualty, and he was the former Rutherford County Commissioner. In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Frances Yelton Hamrick, two sisters, Ruth Hill, and Nancy Cole, and one brother, Pete Hamrick.

Lewis is survived by, one daughter, Summer Lou Williams, and husband Stephen, of Twinsburg, OH, one son, William "Bill" Lewis Hamrick Jr., and wife Susan, of Wernersville, PA, three grandchildren, Christopher Hamrick, Brandon Hamrick, and Sean Williams,  and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 20, 2022, with Reverend Dr. In-Yong Lee officiating also with Masonic Rites. Inurnment will follow in the Memorial Garden of the church with Military Honors, provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Rutherfordton, 246 North Main St. Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
