Lou Ellen Cudd Hines, age 92, of Mt. Holly, NC died Monday, April 22, 2024, at her daughter's home surrounded by her family.

A native of the Green Creek Community, Lou Ellen was the daughter of the late Herbert Cudd and the late Mabel Jones Cudd. She loved Sarah Coventry jewelry and sold it for many years. In addition to her parents Lou Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hines, sisters, Sara Janice Gilbert (Smiley), and Annette Bishop (Hugh), and a brother, Jerry Cudd (Sybil).

Surviving are her daughters, Kathy Hines Brock (Bill), Lisa Hines Griffin, and Kristi Hines Nicholson, her son, Mike Hines (Donna), and son-in-law, Jeff Nicholson, special nephew, Don Smith (Barbara), eleven grandchildren, Paul Brock (Kristina), Eric Brock, Kyndra Messick (Chase), Christopher Hines, Jason Hines (Anna), Aubrey Nicholson, Erin Nicholson, Leah Nicholson, Russell Griffin (Amy), and Kris Hearty (John), and nine great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4251 Chesnee Rd, Rutherfordton, NC 28139 at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 24, 2024. The family will greet friends after the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue, 380 US-221 Rutherfordton, NC 28139. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
