Margaret J.  Kesterson, age 95, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Holly Springs Senior Citizens Home.

She was the daughter of the late Billy and Rose Dixon, and she was a native of Peterborough, England. Margaret was a war bride, she came to the United States when she was 19 years old on a ship called the Marine Falcon on September 13th, 1947.  She was a hard working lady and worked until she was 80 years old.  In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Kesterson, her daughter, Becky Morgan (Don), her sister, Jean Slywn-Smith,  her grandson, Jason Kesterson, and her son-in-law Wayne Allen.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy Sellars (Alan) of Waynesville, NC, Linda Allen of Forest City, two sons, Rob Kesterson (Teresa) of Sumter, SC, and Scott Kesterson (Callie) of Forest City, one brother, Tony Dixon (Pat) of England, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.

The graveside service will be at Green River Baptist  Church Cemetery at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 7, 2023 with Reverend James Henson officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the cemetery. McMahan's Funeral Home & Cremation Services in charge of arrangements.
