Mary Evelyn Bailey, age 84, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Hilltop Health & Rehabilitation in Rutherfordton.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Hoyt, and her parents, Alma and Clifford Grayson. Mary Evelyn and Hoyt worked in the textiles mill in Chesnee until their retirement. She loved to cook, read, children, and make people laugh. In her early life she spent a lot of time in Golden Valley with relatives of which she knew about the history and people there.

She is survived by her cousins, Larry Taylor and his wife Charlotte, of Luckenbach, TX, Joey Buchanan, Joan Koone, Kay Hammond and her husband Buddy, and Lee Buchanan and his wife Johna.

A family directed graveside service will be held on March 15, 2025, at 1:00PM at Southern Baptist Cemetery. Any memorials can be made to Southern Baptist  Church; 140 Church Street, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
