Mary Sue Reath Womick, age 89, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Friday, June 23, 2023, at her home.

A native of Rutherford County Sue was the daughter of the late Walt and Ruby Reath. Sue was a multitalented person and was especially good at sewing. She was very smart, graduating a year early, and being valedictorian of her class in high school. Sue lived for her family and loved all of them unconditionally. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Womick, and one brother, Harry Reath.

Sue is survived by one daughter, Susan Rae Womick, two sons, Sherrill Reath Womick, and Robert Scott Womick, all three children of Rutherfordton, three sisters, Bette Stanley Polly Walker, and Lynn Jones, five grandchildren, Andy Womick, Wendy Mace, Evan Womick, Jeffrey Womick, and David Womick, seven great-grandchildren, Michael Womick, Alice Wallace, Maggie Roddrick, Ethan Womick, Ashleigh Womick, Emma Mace, Lily Mace, and one great-great-grandchild, Rhett Roddrick.

There will be at a graveside service at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, June 27, 2023. There will be no formal visitation. Interment will be at Mount Vernon Baptist Cemetery, Forest City, NC. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
